An opportunity to hear first-hand from locals who were in Nepal during the earthquake and its aftermath, while contributing to those whose lives, livelihoods and homes were wrecked by it. Both Wanaka climber Guy Cotter, of Adventure Consultants, who was at Camp Two when the earthquake hit and Queenstowner Jason Laing, the helicopter pilot who was one of the first on the scene at Everest and rescued more than 100 people off the mountain, will also show clips of recent expeditions.
Jason was the recent recipient of a Nepalese Bravery Award for his high altitude rescue work in the Himalayas. There will also be a charity auction with great prizes – including heli-skiing. Proceeds to be shared equally between the Juniper Fund (rebuilding villages in Nepal and Tsering’s Fund, providing aid to refugees including those from the Langtang Valley.
