LUMA Southern Light Project

Lighting up Queenstown Gardens and lakefront over Queen’s Birthday Weekend from 6-10pm every evening (Friday to Monday), the LUMA festival will illuminate Queenstown with art, music, culture and sculpture. Free for everyone, LUMA features artwork from local, national and international artists, including starry guided walks, illuminated forests, sculpture trails and much more.

Guerilla Drive In has announced an extensive line up of free film screenings as part of LUMA.

Friday 2nd June – Short & Sweet
5:30 – 9:30 Selection of animated and live-action short films.

Saturday 3rd June – Active Adventures & GDI Earth
5:30 – 6:00 Ata Whenua – Shadowland: Fiordland on Film by CatalystTrustee Peta Carey.
6:00 – 8:00 Home: Aerial shots of various places on Earth, showing the diversity of life on Earth.
8:10 – 9:40 Gravity: The multi-Oscar-winning film starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

Sunday 4th June – Queenstown Film Society Features
5:30 – 7:10 Samsara: A ‘non-verbal documentary film’ by the makers of Baraka, exploring the wonders of our world.
7:20 – 9:30 Amelie: The award winning romantic comedy by Jean-Pierre Jeune featuring Audrey Tautou.

Monday 5th June – Music Sessions
5:30 – 6:30 Notes in the Wood: NZ-made doco about Stan Monk, a self-taught violin-maker.
6:40 – 7:10 Live at the Broken Arms: A selection of short interviews and performances from local artists.
7:10 – 7:40 Pitch Black: a short showcase of music and visuals by the Kiwi electronica duo.
7:40 – 9:30 Shut Up and Play the Hits: Doco about LCD Soundsystem’s final show and an intimate portrait of James Murphy.
