Speaker: Professor Barbara Brookes, Professor of History, Otago University
The women’s liberation movement in New Zealand in the 1970s argued for thorough-going social change in order to create equality between women and men. This talk will explore what those changes were and what kind of impact they have had on New Zealand society.
Barbara studied at Otago, and in America at Bryn Mawr College. Her forthcoming History of Women in New Zealand is due for release by Bridget Williams Books in November.
